Rosette Nebula NGC 2244 in HSO
The Rosette Nebula is an emission Nebula that is known for its Nebulosity. It is Approximately 5,000 Light years from Earth.
Imaged with a Stellarvue SVX80T-R Refractor Telescope and mounted on an iOptron CEM 70. The camera used was a monochrome ZWO 1600mm-P with Astronmik Narrow Band Filters. Ha 6n, Sii 6nm, and Oiii 6nm. The total exposure time was about 20 hours. The Ha and Sii filter had 10 minute exposure times using a gain of 200 while the Oiii had 5 minute exposure times with a gain of 150.
It was then stacked with Deep Sky Stacker and I then combined each of the 3 filters files in Photoshop CC in a HSO palette. The HSO Palette replaces the traditional RGB format where the HA filter was used as the Red channel, the Sii filter was used for the Green channel and the Oiii was used for the Blue channel.
This is a common practice when imaging in Narrow Band. In fact the Hubble Telescope images that you see are often presented in the SHO pallet. They use Sii filter for the Red channel, Ha for the Green Channel, and Oiii for the Blue channel.
